You Said, We Did - Welwyn Hatfield West |
||
Over the past few months, Neighbourhood Policing Teams (NPTs) across Welwyn Hatfield have been working to tackle the issues that residents said were causing them the most concern. NPTs work alongside partners to focus on solving long and short-term neighbourhood issues, such as anti-social behaviour, theft, speeding and drug-related crime. They set local policing priorities every four months, providing a specific focus on the issues that residents have raised through surveys, alongside an analysis of data. Residents will see their dedicated team of PCs and PCSOs working alongside partners to tackle the issues, through an increased police presence, engagement events and targeted enforcement. During the last period, the following priorities were addressed:
Welwyn Hatfield West (Hatfield Villages, Hatfield Central, Hatfield South West and the University of Hertfordshire) Drug dealing in Alban Way (town centre) - We executed two warrants at addresses along the Alban Way corridor, arresting one male, safeguarding vulnerable occupants being cuckooed, and returning control of two properties to Welwyn Hatfield Borough council, effectively shutting down drug activity at that location. Drug dealing in Parkhouse Court - We carried out regular plain clothes and uniformed patrols in both Alban Way and Parkhouse Court – a mix of cycle and foot patrols. Several wanted people were arrested. - We identified several homeless people using the bin stores, which are likely linked to the public's perception of drug dealing in the area. We worked with the charity Resolve and the council to provide accommodation as soon as possible. Two individuals who had been previously committing anti-social behaviour have now been relocated. The following priorities have been agreed for three months: Whilst there will be a focus on the local priorities, officers will continue to respond to daily business as usual, as well as forcewide priorities and any emerging issues which require more immediate action. Alongside the NPT, Welwyn Hatfield is also policed by officers who respond to emergency calls, a team of detectives who investigate crimes such as burglary, robbery and assault, and specialist units who work to tackle issues such as acquisitive crime and domestic abuse. In addition, they can call on officers from central teams which work countywide. | ||
